Coventry City Council approves Local Plan submission — 29,100 new homes proposed for 2021–2041 → On 2 September 2025, Coventry City Council approved submission of the Local Plan Review and the Local Development Scheme (LDS), setting the policy framework for the city's growth over the next two decades. → Headline numbers: 29,100 new homes proposed for the period 2021–2041, alongside 60 hectares of employment land. The Plan takes a brownfield-first approach, with no Green Belt release. → Stronger policies are introduced on affordable housing, design standards and climate measures, and the LDS sets the timetable for examination and adoption. → The next step is independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate. Adoption will follow only if the Plan is found sound. A significant moment for Coventry, and one we will be following closely on behalf of landowner clients across the city.
